Photocopy of good ts memoir (34pp written ca 1991) covering: volunteering in Penrith for service with the RAF; training at Scarborough (January - April 1941), at Initial Flying Training School, Brough near Hull (April - June 1941), at No 2 Flying Training School, Brize Norton, and No 51 OTU, Cranfield; service as a night fighter pilot with: 1457 Flight at Predannack in Cornwall, and Exeter (from January 1942) flying Havoc and Boston experimental Turbinlite night fighters and describing an air raid on Penzance; with No 125 Squadron RAF Fighter Command at airfields at Fairwood Common, west of Swansea (February - April 1943) and Exeter (April - November 1943), on patrols over the Bristol and English Channels in Mark IV Beaufighters, including shooting down a Do 217E, Ballyhalbert in Northern Ireland (November - December 1943), Hurn near Bournemouth (June - July 1944) flying mark XVII Mosquitos over the Channel, Middle Wallop near Salisbury (July - October 1944) on patrol over Holland and Germany, where he shot down a He 219 night fighter), Coltishall near Norwich (October 1944 - April 1945) on operations against He 111s carrying V-1s and against V-2s, also describing a German air attack on the base and Church Fenton in Yorkshire (April - November 1945) describing the details of petrol rationing, helping repatriated RAF ex-POWs and flying Liberators, interspersed with details of life as a pilot, the problems and advantages of each aircraft type and incidents during his service, as well as brief remarks on service as a flying instructor at Cranfield (January - June 1944) and medical treatment. Together with two flying log books covering the period April 1941 - August 1945 (63pp and 150pp) including his comments on operations and photographs of aircraft and various airmen.
