Photocopy of somewhat confused ts memoirs (64pp written ca 1975 and 37pp written 1991) describing his service: as a private / NCO driver with 1st Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment (3rd Infantry Brigade, 1st Infantry Division) in northern France and Belgium, mainly concerned with moves and relations with civilians, but also describing the slow process of evacuation from the beaches at Dunkirk (2 June 1940); as an NCO with No 1 Troop, No 6 Commando (July 1940 - March 1942) describing training in England and Scotland and a night exercise in the English Channel (May 1941); as an NCO with No 2 Special Boat Squadron (from April 1942), training at Ardrossen, Scotland and near Fareham, Hampshire, his training in the submarine HMS FORTH (May 1942), landing on the North African coast from the submarine HMS URSULA for 'Operation Torch' (7-8 November 1942), operations in her in the Mediterranean (November - December 1942), training on Welman one man submarines in Scotland (April 1943), attachment (as a Lieutenant, June 1944) to Small Operations Group in Ceylon (June - December 1944) and his attachment to 15th Indian Corps (December 1944 - November 1945) in Burma (Maungdaw, Ramree Island and Rangoon) prior to his return to England; ms journal (1 November 1942 - August 1943, 50pp) describing in greater detail the operations in North Africa and after landing from URSULA at the Gulf of Genoa, Italy (November - December 1942, blowing up railway lines, sinking the Italian asdic schooner TOJO and the cargo vessel St MARGUERITE II), and his return to England (December 1942) and giving a very good account of taking part in an abortive beach raid on Dunkirk by canoes from an MTB in August 1943; also notebook containing contemporary ms notes and drawings and later ms notes and drawings from an an instruction course on the workings of the Welman, and photocopies of ts correspondence (22pp 1958 - 1985) with the former radio officer of the St MARGUERITE II.
