Photocopy of ts transcript of his diary for the period 12 April - 9 May 1945, including copies of poems, illustrations and cartoons (mainly from POW magazines) and additional background data, describing in excellent detail his experiences as a POW on the march from Eichstaett (Oflag VIIB) to Moosburg (Stalag VIIA) north of Munich in Germany in April 1945 and his life in the latter camp until liberation, giving good details of food and living conditions, relations with the Germans, providing help to Russian POWs, events leading up to liberation by the Americans, his thoughts about US troops, operating a motor transport repair workshop run by ex-POWs and US army personnel at Moosburg, his flight home (in the rear gun turret of a Lancaster bomber on 8 - 9 May) and events on his return home, as well as describing an occasion in 1940 when, he claims, he had Rommel in his rifle sight. The volume also gives hindsights into his earlier life in camps at Laufen (Oflag VIIC, July 1940), Warburg (Oflag VIB, October 1941) and Eichstaett (September 1942) including information on escape attempts. He was captured while serving as a Lieutenant with 10th Army Field Workshops (RAOC, later REME) at St Valery in France in June 1940.
