Brief, occasionally vivid, word-processed ts account (24pp written ca 1992) of his call-up in 1943, training in England with the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry (KOYLI), being sunk (on 6 November 1943) in the Mediterranean while en route to the Far East in an unnamed vessel, training in India with 2nd Battalion Durham Light Infantry (DLI) and, more interestingly described, service with them penetrating into Kohima (April 1944), remaining in the fighting there until the end of the siege, taking part in the advance southwards as far as Meiktila in Burma, before being flown out to take part in the relief of Rangoon (May 1945).
