164 ms letters written to his family while serving in the RAF, 1941 - 1944, and including 50 written while undergoing training at No. 7 ITW, December 1941 - April 1942, and No. 21 EFTS, April - May 1942, where he begins his flying training, talking mainly about his training, living conditions, entertainment and sport, 86 letters from Canada while undergoing flying training at 34 EFTS, Saskatchewan, July - August 1942, 41 SFTS, Saskatchewan, October 1942 - February 1943 and No. 1 GRS Summerside PE1, February - May 1943 and operational training at RAF Debert, Nova Scotia, May - August 1943, which contains good descriptions of his flying training, and of his leave spent with old friends (he was born in Canada), and 28 letters, September 1943 - May 1944 from Coastal Command stations in Yorkshire and Scotland mainly discussing family matters but including descriptions of some of his operational flights; together with 26 letters from his parents, August 1941 - April 1943 containing family news in Northern Ireland.
