Ms diary in two notepads and 106 loose pages, together with photocopy of edited, illustrated ts transcript, covering September 1939 - September 1945 and describing: his service as an aircraftman in the clerical branch of No 242 Squadron RAF in the United Kingdom (1939 - 1941) en route to the Far East (December 1941 - February 1942), service at Palembang and Batavia on Java including the chaotic situation, air raids and the Allies scorched earth policy (February - March 1942), imprisonment in camps on Java at Pamigatan/Wanaradja (March 1942), Semplak (March - August 1942), Makasura (August 1942 - January 1943, July 1944 - January 1945), Tandjong Priok (January - April 1943), on Ambon in the Moluccan Islands (April 1943 - ca. February 1944) and on Singapore at River Valley (January - July 1945) and Tandjong Pagar (July - September 1945), giving details of conditions, health, food and work (especially on Mount Faber and tunnel construction in 1945). Also 12 ms postcards from him, 11 ms/ts letters to him (including one emotional one from a fellow prisoner praising their friendship) as a POW, 2 blank printed Netherlands East Indies letter cards (n.d.) and issue 112 of Mark Time Daily News POW camp journal.
