Photocopies (38pp) of 7 ms letters and 2 ms postcards in Polish/German, with translations in broken English, written by him principally in Auschwitz and Mauthausen concentration camps (on camp headed notepaper), March - July 1943, giving hints and descriptions, especially in one (enlarged photocopy) written on cigarette papers and smuggled out of Auschwitz, of his betrayal, arrest, interrogation, torture, health, morale and food, and giving details of living conditions, procedures for sending parcels and their effect on morale; photocopies (29pp) of 4 ms letters and 2 ms postcards in German with translations, written to him by his family in Tarnow, Poland, May 1943 - December 1944, giving him family news, sympathy and morale boosters; photocopies (10pp) of counterfoils for parcels sent to him and lists of their contents. He was arrested in February 1943 by the Gestapo as a member of a Polish resistance group called 'Aro'.
