Well-written ts lecture (23pp), written by a former Civilian Lecturer to HM Forces, East Sussex, April 1956, describing VE Day, 5 May 1945, including: the joyous reaction of people in Eastbourne and in London, outside Buckingham Palace cheering the King and Queen, in Piccadilly and Trafalgar Square, and in Downing Street cheering Winston Churchill, the inspiration behind victory; and the effects of the war on Britain, such as rationing and the terror of the V1 and V2. Also included are a Certificate (2pp) of Employment as a Lecturer by the Central Advisory Council for Adult Education in HM Forces, South Eastern Command, 1 September 1944 - 31 August 1945; an article (2pp) issued by the Ministry of Information, South Eastern Region, Tunbridge Wells, 11 October 1940, on how she became a lecturer; and 17 letters (72pp), written by officers and men of the BLA and SEAC, March 1944 - September 1945, thanking her for parcels and detailing the conditions, morale, progress of the fighting, worries about the flying bombs over England, and relations with the local inhabitants; and mentioning Lieutenant General G C Bucknall, Admiral Lord Louis Mountbatten and General Sir Montagu Stopford.
