Notebook containing ms diary (45pp, 20 May - 6 June 1940) probably written while a prisoner of war, but giving very detailed, timed daily entries describing his service as a Captain with the 4th Battalion, East Kent Regiment (The Buffs), 48th Infantry Division, during the fighting and retreat around Doullens, France, his surrender, and his route as a prisoner of war (1940 - 1942); excellent ms letter (6pp, 8 May 1945) describing being shot at by 'Werewolves' after liberation, the anxiety of awaiting repatriation and the excitement of its happening, as well as criticisms of his fellow officers; photographs of officers and scenes from POW camps including Titmoning (Oflag VII D), Dossel (VI B)and Eichstatt (VII B); instructions and labels / forms for the Red Cross parcels for POWs, a letter and envelope from the Red Cross in Geneva, March 1942; 2 printed sermons delivered in camp; printed book of Oflag VII B standing orders (1942); ms notes (including lists of allied air raids 1944 - 1945, books read as a POW and camp rations); notebook containing minutes of the meetings of the Grounds and Gardens Committee in Oflag VI B, chaired by Brigadier L Parrington, from October 1941 to August 1942; Army pay slips, 1942 - 1946, largely as a POW.
