Ms diary in seven volumes, (and with two volumes ts transcription) of his military service, August 1939 - March 1946, as a DR with 1st (Middlesex Yeomanry) Cavalry Signals, August - December 1939, with 2nd (MY) Armoured Divisions Signals, December 1939 - February 1940, and with 22nd Heavy Armoured Brigade, February - March 1940, followed by 8 months in hospital after a motor-cycle accident, then a posting to No 2 Squadron, H Troop, 8th Armoured Division, October 1940 - June 1941, then officer training at Darlington and No 151 OCTU, Aldershot, June 1941 - February 1942, and a posting to 80th HAA Regiment RA Signals Section in England, May - November 1942, then in North Africa, November 1942 - September 1943 (1st Army) including an attachment to HQ 1st Army Group RA during the Battle of Tunis, February - May 1943, then with 21 Beach Group on the Salerno Landings, September 1943, then back with 80th HAA Regiment RA in Sicily, October 1942 - February 1944, and in Italy, February - April 1944, followed by a posting to 1st Field Regiment RA (4th Indian Division), in Italy, April - December 1944, and Greece, December 1944 - July 1945, and finally a posting to 18 Line of Communications Signals, in Greece, July 1945 - March 1946, when he was demobilised, in which he describes in detail his army life, training, duties, and amorous adventures; together with copies of the war diaries of No 1 AGRA Signals Section War diary, and of No 1 Army Group HQ, February - May 1943; service book and pay book, Orders for Operation DRYSHOD, July 1942, "last letter to his mother" June 1943; and No 1 AGRA orders, instructions, and signals line diagrams, February - May 1943.
