Photocopy of an interesting pocket book kept whilst serving in the Drake Battalion (1st Naval Brigade, RND) July 1915 - January 1916 at Helles, Gallipoli including vignettes describing the voyage out to the Mediterranean (August 1915) via the Bay of Biscay, Gibraltar, Malta, Alexandria and Lemnos in HMT ASCANIUS and after arrival at Gallipoli of the reserve trenches, the firing line, the rest camp, W Beach in October and Turkish snipers, details of his equipment, a canteen price list and the food served by the Royal Naval Hospital in Malta (January 1916), and a number of sketches of the Helles environment, the arrangements of the fire step, the flooded trenches and the difference between the RND men in winter and summer.
