3 ts and 1 ms letters (13pp 25 December 1941 - 24 February 1942), a fragmented, but excellent ms diary (132pp January 1941 - June 1945) and a partial ts transcription of the letters and the diary (20pp), covering his service as the Chaplain to the 35th LAA Regiment RA, briefly in southern England (January - November 1941), but in greater detail his arrival in Singapore (January 1942) under Japanese bombardment and his experiences as a prisoner of war in Singapore in the camps at Changi (February - May 1942, August 1942 - May 1944 and March - May 1945), Great World (May - August 1942), Woodlands Hospital (May 1944 - March 1945) and Kranji (May 1945 until his death in July 1945), expressing very critical views on the lifestyle and the lack of military preparedness and discipline in Singapore before the surrender, and on his fellow Chaplains as POWs, highlighting many petty conflicts with them, but also noting his great admiration for the Australians; ts signed postcard from William Temple, Archbishop of Canterbury (December 1943) and 5 ms/ts POW postcards from Chambers, his ms POW pay book, ms notes (16pp) of nominal rolls and on his duties as a POW Chaplain; photographs of him and his grave.
