Photocopies of the papers of the Head of the Marine Research Department at the Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Company Ltd (now more commonly known as Shell) responsible for a number of wartime technological developments including a ts report (36pp) produced by the committee on which he sat describing the tests and experiments carried out in Scotland to try to float burning oil on water as part of Great Britain's defence plans, July - October 1940, primarily relating to the mixture of oil/petrol required, the fitting out of a prototype ship and the final successful trials, together with newspaper reports describing the shipyard tests carried out in Glasgow and Liverpool under his supervision to develop a fire-proof lifeboat capable of carrying survivors through the burning wreckage (May - June 1943), his involvement in the refloating and salvage of the tanker LISETA following an explosion in dock (November 1943) and an undated (?c.1953) newspaper profile briefly outlining his warwork and his post-war development of gas-turbine engines for the Royal Navy.
