Printed memoir (295pp), privately published in 1998 but originally written in 1989, covering his service in the ranks of the North Somerset Yeomanry (1st Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division) from 1939 - 1941, including training in Britain, 1939, and Palestine, 1940 - 1941, and the move to Palestine, January 1940; at Middle East OCTU, Cairo, 1941; as a junior officer with the 1st Battalion Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment (14th Brigade, 70th Division), in Egypt, Tobruk and Syria, 1941 - 1942; as an Intelligence Officer with 16th Brigade in Syria and India, 1941 - 1942; as GSO3 (Operations) with Eastern Army at Barrackpore, 1942 - October 1943; as GSO2 (Liaison) with 14th Army at Comilla, India, and Imphal, Burma, October 1943 - 1945; and as GSO2 (Training) at North Midland HQ, Nottingham, 1945; and describing in some detail army life; his duties; morale; relations with civilians; living conditions; entertainments; his separation from his wife for five years; and mentioning General K M Cariappa, IA; Admiral of the Fleet Earl Mountbatten; Field Marshal Lord Slim; Lieutenant General J W Stilwell, USA; Major General O C Wingate, and John Verney.
