Ts memoir (25pp), written in 1990, recording his experiences as an RASC lorry driver with 3rd Division Supply Column, 25 May - 4 June 1940, attempting to deliver supplies to the 1/7th Battalion The Middlesex Regiment, including: the retreat to Dunkirk, May 1940; his attachment to the 2nd Middlesex; the embarkation from Dunkirk, May - June 1940; and describing briefly his ignorance of events and his shocked reaction to news of the withdrawal to Dunkirk; the use of his lorry as a makeshift ambulance to collect and take casualties to a hospital at La Panne; the shortage of supplies; the exhaustion and hunger of the troops; the abandonment of Army vehicles and equipment; the work of the RAF rescue motor boats; his treatment on arrival in England; and mentioning his admiration for Colonel (later Lieutenant General Sir Brian) Horrocks.
