Two ms log books of the YMCA Mobile canteen, Wimbledon, March 1940 - July 1945, compiled by her and recording in very personal terms the experiences of and the reception given to the civilian men and women delivering refreshments, bibles and comforts such as cigarettes, chocolates and clothing, in all conditions and despite shortages, to the RAF, WAAF, the Home Guard and the balloon, searchlight and AA units sited at isolated locations in and around London, to demolition and rescue squads, the Ambulance and National Fire Services, homeless people, policemen and railwaymen during the air raids of the Blitz, and to local events such as the Merton and Morden War Week procession (May 1941) and the Youth Display at the Technical Ground, Wimbledon (August 1942); and who ran a mobile lending library for the troops from April 1944. Included are photographs, poems, Christmas cards, cartoons and letters of appreciation relating to the long and efficient service provided by the mobile canteen and library.
