Exercise book containing training notes and finely executed illustrations compiled during his attendance on an ammunition course in January 1916 with details on different types of fuses, cartridges and explosives; also ms. lecture notes (38pp) comprising a geographical and historical description of Sierra Leone where he was based as a Corporal in the ASC, June 1918 - 1919 with references to his life there, local reactions to the Armistice, unrest in Freetown during 1919, the subsequent imposition of martial law and the behaviour of soldiers in the West African Rifles, together with his printed/ms. demobilization certificate dated March 1920, his National Registration Identity Card dated May 1943, a postcard photograph of the SS GALWAY CASTLE and 2 ms letters in English (one with envelope) dated April and from Sierra Leonis concerning employment by/with the British forces and addressed to the office of the Chief Ordnance Officer.
