Ms diary/notebook (113pp) containing a basic diary, with intermittent supporting notes, covering his passage from the United Kingdom to Singapore (October 1941 - January 1942), his service as an NCO with the 2nd Battalion Cambridgeshire Regiment (18th Division) during the Malayan campaign (January - February 1942), his experiences as a prisoner of war in Changi camp, Singapore (February - June 1942), during the rail journey to Bampong (June 1942), at various camps along the route of the Burma-Siam railway (June 1942 - May 1944), at Iruka camp in Japan (June 1944 - August 1945), and his liberation and departure from Japan (August - September 1945). With the diary/notebook, which also contains details of his rations at different stages during his captivity and lists of all ranks of his Battalion and fellow prisoners who died between 1942 and 1945, and his first airgraph home following liberation and two drawings of a memorial at Iruka camp.
