Photocopies of ts memoir (228pp) with photographs and maps of his service in 1st Battalion Essex Regiment from his enlistment in December 1933 until his return to England in March 1944, in which he describes with many annecdotes his training at Catterick Camp then service with the force policing the Saar Plebiscite, December 1934; back at Catterick training as a Signaller, then overseas posting to Palestine, October 1936, Egypt, January 1938, Western Desert, September 1938, the Suez Canal, April 1939, the Sudan, January 1940 - December 1940 (4th Indian Division), Palestine, December 1940, Trans Jordan, May 1941, Tobruk, October 1941 - February 1942, India, February 1942 - May 1943, Burma, May-November 1943, then home via Australia, and mentions living conditions, army life, romances with local girls, his travels, as well as his duties.
