A series of 222 ms letters and 5 diaries covering various years between 1925 and 1948, spent in Britain and India serving with the Royal Artillery (RA) and in retirement, largely dealing with matters of a personal nature but giving a flavour of life in the British army in India in the interwar years, including a description of the standards of training in the Indian Army (21 April 1927), the 1935 Quetta earthquake, a trip to Sweden for an international shooting match, 1947, winning a place in the 1948 British Olympic Shooting Team (1948 diary) and the 1948 Olympics opening ceremony (24 July 1948); together with a notebook of miscellaneous writing on military topics, a notebook of lecture notes on the regimental history and tradition of the RA, a ts (25pp) history of aspects of Sind Province, 3 passports, 3 drivers licences, 2 shooting licences, 24 regimental Christmas cards, 5 photographs of him as a younger officer, numerous miscellaneous items relating to his army social life in interwar India and 34 letters of sympathy to his wife on the occasion of his death in November 1953.
