Correspondence, mainly re: the acquisition of items showing the work of the Women's Voluntary Services for Civil Defence (WVS). Includes list of letters, leaflets, photographs, sketches, badges and posters deposited in 1940. Items acquired include: WVS uniform worn by the Dowager Marchioness of Reading; WVS uniform dress and hat; copies of the WVS Bulletin; Certificate of Thanks issued to WVS members; dioramas showing 'The Morning After The Bomb', Rest Centre and Clothing Depot; photographs; statuette showing work of the WVS; film 'Britannia is a Woman'; gasmask handbag and handbag used by Lady Reading.
