26 sub-files of correspondence relating to Ship models for the Museum. Consists of:
1) HMS Liwo: Correspondence regarding donation of model of HMS Liwo from Indo-China Steam Navigation Company Limited, Matheson and Co Limited and Hong Kong and Whampoa Dock Company Limited, and speeches at presentation ceremony of this. Also press cuttings relating to presentation of model and notes on history of ship.
2) Collection of Waterline Models: Correspondence regarding donation of 64 waterline models to the Museum from Mr Graham Marshall
3) Collection of 477 Miniature Models of Ships: Correspondence regarding loan of 477 minature models of ships from Commander MacPherson, and later removal or some models and donation of the remainder. Also insurance certificates for the models.
4) Exhibitions: List of models at the Shipwrights exhibition in 1947, also drafts of a letter requesting ship models for the Museum
5) Golden Eagle: Correspondence with General Steam Navigation Company regarding borrowing of photographs and drawings to create a model of the 'Golden Eagle' anti-aircraft ship.
6) HMS Implacable: Correspondence regarding loan to Museum and subsequent return of model of HMS Implacable, also loans of ship models to Department of Naval Recruiting, and possible acquisition of Commando Assault model.
7) Messrs Wates Limited: Correspondence regarding gift of model of concrete cargo barge from Wates Limited, also regarding earlier gift of other models.
8) Model of HMS Duke of York: Correspondence regarding loan of model of HMS Duke of York by the Commander of the Ship, and its subsequent return.
9) Mr TC Dring: Correspondence with Mr Dring regarding purchase of his model of HMS Rawalpindi. Also press cutting regarding the model
10) HMS Repulse with Destroyer: Correspondence regarding loan of display of HMS Repulse and convoy models to the museum from Mr A Coote, and his subesequent offer to sell them to the Museum (declined).
11) Mr H Fitterer: Correspondence with Mr Fitterer of the North London Ship Model Society regarding meetings of the society at the Museum and loan of 4 cases of ship models to the Museum.
12) Model of Scharnhorst: Letter of thanks for gift of model of the Scharnhorst and a 2nd SS Division Das Reich.
13) Empress of Australia: Correspondence regarding the loan, preservation and return of Model of Empress of Australia from Mr Lewis
14) Model of HMS Devonshire: Correspondence regarding loan of model of HMS Devonshire to the Museum, and arrangements for this to be photographed.
15) Model of San Demetrio: Correspondence regarding loan and return of model of San Demetrio
16) W. John Rapley: Correspondence with Mr Rapley regarding indefinite loan of model of HMS Ramillies.
17) Model of Bridge of Duke of York: Note on progress of creation of model of bridge of Duke of York
18) D. McNarry: Correspondence regarding loan of model of the Stirling Castle to the Museum from Mr McNarry. Also a press cutting on the loan.
19) Model of Seaplane Carrier Empress: Correspondence with Mrs Drury regarding loan of Model of Seaplane Carrier Empress to the Museum which belonged to her husband. Also an earlier offer to sell the model to the Museum by Commander Drury which was refused.
20) Transportation Training Centre: Correspondence from Transportation Training Centre regarding loan of drawings to the Museum and request for help in making models of various craft for their Museum
21) Eagle Oil and Shipping Company: Correspondence with the Eagle Oil and Shipping Company regarding loan of model of San Demetrio belonging to Ealing Studios to the Museum. Also documents relating to the insurance of this, correspondence with Shell tankers regarding gift of two Norman Wilkinson paintings and correspondence regarding gift of other relics of the ship, and plan of case for model.
22) RGB Gwyer: Correspondence with Mr Gwyer regarding the possibility of him leaving relics, books and around 360 waterline models to the Museum in his will.
23) Sea Forts, Bombardment Tower, Floating Dock: 2 sub-sub files relating to models of sea forts etc. Includes:
1- Thames Fort: Correspondence with Admiralty regarding donation of model of Thames Fort, also correspondence regarding temporary loans out to HMS Dockyard Sheerness and HMS Dockyard Chatham.
2- Loose Items: Correspondence regarding loans and acquisitions of models, including loan of model seafort to Gravesend Public Library, disposal of duplicate model of Thames Fort, donation of 5 photographs of forts from G Maunsell and Partners.
24) Mr Norman A Ough: Correspondence regarding donation and description of models, including No 14 Dock Portsmouth, arrangements of transfer of Admiralty Handbooks to the Museum, supply of drawings for the construction of models, arrangements for repair of models, commissioning of model of HMS Dorsetshire.
25) General 2: General correspondence relating to ships models, includes receipt for model of U570/ HMS Graph for the Museum from the Admiralty of long-term loan, letter offering model of HMS Enterprise to the Museum, request for help in supplying drawings to construct models of ships
26) Model of HMS Dido: Correspondence regarding loan of model of HMS Dido, repairs to the model, photographs of the model, requests for plans and photographs for help making models, purchase of model of HMS Dido.
