1) Cinematography General 1939-1950: Individual files referring to cinemtographs. Consists of-
1-Pathe Pictures Ltd-Mines Film: Correspondence regarding the filming of light machine guns and a submarine mine.
2- Films Held in the Middle East: List of films held in the Middle East
3- Home Guard Film: Correspondence regarding the loan and possible copying of a Home Guard film.
4- The Arts Enquiry Film Group: Correspondence regarding passage on the museum's film archive in an Arts Enquiry Film Group's report.
5- German A.R.P. Training Films: Correspondence regarding the acquisition of German ARP training films
6- "Far Horizons"- The Film Story of Dunlop at War: Correspondence regarding the acquisition of this film. Includes a synopsis.
7- Films Art Society: Correspondence regarding a showing of the German film 'Kruger'.
8- War Pictorial News: Correspondence regarding transfer to Museum of films known a 'War Pictorial News'.
9- School of Artillery:Correspondence regarding acquisition of film from School of Artillery of 14" Guns being fired, and our subsequent loan back to them.
10- Winged Messengers: Correspondence loaning film to Capt Eric Hardy
11- Mr E.G. Heasman: Offer by Mr Heasman of a number of German prpogranda films. Offer refused.
12- Automatic Machines: Advertising letter for an 'Adiescope' film strip projector.
13- Cinematograph: Newspaper articles on the use of the Museum's expertise in the film 'Hasty Heart', copy of War Office Film Catalogue 1944, and correspondence regarding this, letter requesting information on film equipment IWM holds.
2) Cinematograph- General 1939-1959: Correspondence regarding the acquisition, transfer, conservation and showing of films. Includes correspondence with the Ministry of Works regarding the building of a cinema, also regarding a theft from the film vaults at Acton. Correspondence regarding museum items being filmed.
3) Cinematograph General 1955: Contains guidelines for cataloguing film, 'dope sheet' records of films, procedures for the preservation of official records, correspondence with the London Fire Brigade regarding films of the 'Blitz', and the following sub file;
1- British Transport Films (Southern Railway): brief correspondence regarding transfer of Southern Railway wartime films to the Museum.
4) Cinematograph- General 1954-1955: Contains correspondence, official notices from the Public Record Office, reports from Government Cinematograph Adviser's Staff and minutes of Service Training Films committee.
