Youth Groups

A visit to IWM Duxford can support aviation badges and other interests.

All Youth Groups must book their visit to IWM Duxford in advance and pay on arrival.  Children must be supervised at all times.  Our recommended ratio is 1:10.

Choose what you want to see and do

Youth Groups can explore the Museum on a self-directed visit, using the exhibitions on site and supporting online resources.

Subject to availability they can also add a learning session on weekdays during the school holidays.

All activities need to be pre-booked so browse the carousels to choose a learning session suitable for Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4.

For FE, AS and A level browse Post-16.

Children must be supervised at all times.  We recommend one adult for every six children aged 11 and under and one adult for every 10 students aged 11-15.

  • Call the Department for Learning on 01223 499 341 to make a booking.
  • Confirm the arrangements by completing our Booking Form.

Useful information about your trip to IWM Duxford

  • Free preliminary visits are available. Request your preferred date on your Booking Form or call 01223 499 341.
  • Walking from one end of the museum to the other can take 20 minutes. Bring suitable outdoor clothing and wear comfortable shoes.
  • See our Educational Groups Map for further information to help you plan your visit.
  • There is a coach drop-off point outside the Visitor Centre in the main car park.
  • Group leaders should check in and pay at the Visitor Centre.
  • Details of your booked activities will be on your entry ticket/invoice.
  • The Eating Space in AirSpace needs to be pre-booked if you wish to eat packed lunches inside.  No food or drink may be consumed inside the hangars or exhibition areas. Call 01223 499 341.
  • Litter is dangerous on active airfields and should be disposed of correctly.
