New booking process for visits from 1 January 2015

UK/Overseas Schools

  • School groups (with 5 – 15 year olds) on a self-guided visit or undertaking a learning session are eligible for free admission but need to book in advance.
  • School groups (with 16 – 18 year olds) will pay admission for self-guided visits at all times. If undertaking a learning session, the session fee is waived if the school group consists of 10 or more students (16 – 18 year olds).
  • School visit (with 5 – 15 year olds) will need to take place on a weekday during UK term time to qualify for free admission.
  • If you are visiting outside these times or do not make an advance booking, then you will need to pay for your whole group (including the children).

Youth Groups

Youth groups of 10 or more benefit from a reduction on our admission price. One group leader is admitted free with every ten children for supervisory purposes. All youth groups must book in advance and pay on arrival (in a single transaction).

Group Prices for 2015 (10 or more paying visitors)

  • Adult Group Leaders (One free per ten children for supervisory purposes)
  • Group Rate Adult £13.20
  • Group Rate Senior / Student Concession £11.55
  • Group Rate Child (5-15) £6.35

Prices for Learning Sessions from 1 January 2015

  • £70 per class (maximum 36 children) for a 60 minute session
  • 100 per class (maximum 36 children) for a 90 minute session
  • £100 per class (maximum 36 children) on Special Days

Adult Groups

  • Adult Groups on a self guided visit do not need to book in advance.

Adult Education, HE and Military Groups

  • Serving military personnel in uniform are admitted free but must book in advance.
  • Adult Groups wishing to book any activity, tour or session must book in advance.
  • Call the Department for Learning on 01223 499 341 to make a booking. 
  • Confirm the arrangements by completing our Booking Form.
  • Travel arrangements can be made after you have made your telephone booking.
  • We will send you your ticket/invoice and map no later than two weeks prior to your visit.
  • If after submitting your Booking Form you need to make a change telephone 01223 499 341.
  • Cancellations must be emailed to dux-edu@iwm.org.uk - for policy and charges see Cancellations
  • We aim to respond to all telephone calls and email enquiries within two working days.
  • For any changes to a request or confirmed booking, or general enquiries not answered on our website please email dux-edu@iwm.org.uk  or telephone 01223 499 341.
  • Groups must pay on arrival – see Current Charges.

Schools and FE Colleges

  • All Schools and FE College groups must book in advance.
  • Students must be supervised at all times.  We recommend at least one adult for every six children aged 11 and under and one adult for every 10 students aged 11-15. 
  • Call the Department for Learning on 01223 499 341 to make a booking. 
  • Travel arrangements can be made after you have made your telephone booking.
  • Send us your completed Booking Form. The contact details are on Page 2 of the form.
  • We will send your ticket/invoice and map no later than two weeks prior to your visit.

Youth Groups (2014 policy)

  • All Youth Groups must book in advance.
  • Children must be supervised at all times with at least one adult for every six children aged 11 and under, one adult for every 10 students aged 11-15.
  • IWM Duxford reserves the right to refuse admission to groups who do not meet this ratio on the day.
  • Learning sessions and workshops may be available during school holidays.

Admission Charges for 2014

  • Admission prices apply:
  • Children (under 16) FREE.
  • School, college and Youth Group Leaders within supervision ratios (one adult to ten children) FREE.
  • Pre-booked serving military personnel in uniform FREE.
  • Additional adults with school groups will be charged at the group rate of £13.20
  • Additional adults with youth groups will be charged at the adult rate of £17.50 (or £13.20 if there are 15 or more paying visitors)
  • Pre booked Group Rate School Student (aged 16 to 18, KS5) £8.50
  • Pre booked Group Rate Student (aged 18 and over) £11.55
  • Learning Sessions

£65 per class (maximum 36 children) for a 60-minute session

£95 per class (maximum 36 children) for a 90 minute session

£95 per class (maximum 36 children) on Special Days

  • All costs include VAT.
  • Payment must be made on arrival. Payment can be made by cash, credit/debit card or cheques made payable to ‘Imperial War Museums’. We do not accept American Express.
  • Separate charges apply for air shows and other events.

        Cancellation Policy

        • Cancellations must be made in writing to dux-edu@iwm.org.uk
        • Bookings cancelled more than four weeks (28 days) prior to the visit date will not be charged an administration fee.
        • Bookings cancelled between four and two weeks (27 days to 14 days) prior to visit will be charged a 50 per cent administration fee.
        • Bookings cancelled within two weeks of the visit will be charged a 100 per cent administration fee.
        • For multiple bookings over several days, the cancellation period will apply from the first visit date.
