Posters
The ‘mushroom cloud’, looming in the posters of 1960s Peace movement, quickly became an iconic and unsettling symbol of the Cold War arms race. In Britain, the movement was headed by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), whose distinct logo, formed from the semaphore signals for ‘N’ and ‘D’, became a universal emblem of peace.
