In the 60th anniversary year of the end of the Second World War, the exhibition opens with the celebrations surrounding VE and VJ Days and Armistice Day. Moving on to examine the highs and lows of the Home Front and how news of war gets from the Front Line to our front doors, The North at War culminates by setting out the hopes and aspirations felt by many as war ends and peace begins.

With an engaging mix of objects, personal stories and hands-on interactives, this will be one of the highlights of the 60th anniversary commemorations.

To find out more about the various sections, themes and geographical coverage of the exhibition use the navigation bar on the left-hand side or visit The North at War at Imperial War Museum North.
