The Corporate Plan is the key to coordinating activities across the Museum's branches along the same organisation-wide priorities and is the starting point for all staff forward job plans. It also serves as a benchmark to monitor the Museums progress against plans throughout the year and it seeks to respond to the risks and opportunities facing the Museum.
The Freedom of Information Act (2000) is part of the Government's commitment to increase access to information about the activities of public authorities. The first requirement of the legislation is a publication scheme - follow the link to find the Imperial War Museum's publication scheme.
The maintenance and integrity of the Imperial War Museum's website is the responsibility of the Accounting Officer; the work of the Comptroller and Auditor General does not involve consideration of these matters and accordingly I accept no responsibility for any changes that may have occurred to the financial statements since they were initially presented on the website.
Imperial War Museum Equality Strategy Managing diversity involves valuing people as individuals, as employees, visitors and clients. It builds on recognised approaches to equal opportunities and takes them further. The Imperial War Museum (IWM) aims to ensure that equality of opportunity, access and participation is offered to the broadest possible cross section of stakeholders and users. This will be achieved through greater focus on workforce diversity. The Museum will also develop an improved understanding of the diverse needs of service users in order to deliver targeted Action Plans. The focus of the Museum's Equality Strategy is on outcomes. It is imperative that any scheme results in successfully achieving targets and desired outcomes. The Museum will work in partnership with a broad range of groups and organisations, including the Equality and Human Rights Commission, to ensure that objectives are realistic and achievable. The Equality Strategy and supporting Action Plans (Disability, Cultural Diversity and Gender) cover a three-year period. The Strategy and Plans will continue to evolve as progress is reviewed through impact assessment and through the prioritisation of actions in line with corporate planning processes. We welcome feedback from visitors to this website; please let us know your views and opinions on our plans and activity. Feedback on the Action Plans and Strategy should be sent to equalityconsultation@iwm.org.uk.
The Corporate Governance Code brings together the powers and responsibilities recorded in legislation, regulations laid down by Parliament, HM Treasury and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the Charity Commissioners, together with current applicable elements of recommended good practice from HM Treasury.
This statement sets out the Museum's sustainability commitments to staff, visitors, communities and stakeholders. The Museum is developing a Sustainable Development Strategy to deliver against the policy statement objectives to ensure that our impact on the environment is minimised. This will be published in early 2008.
