What We Do

As well as our brilliant visits for schools and family activities, the Imperial War Museum runs a great range of special projects and learning events. These are just some of the ways in which we help people of all ages understand how war shapes lives.

Their Past Your Future
The Imperial War Museum is a lead partner in the award-winning Their Past Your Future education programme. TPYF has been inspiring intergenerational learning about the impact of conflict on people and places since 2004. Find out more including resources for schools at www.theirpast-yourfuture.org.uk.

Journeys of Change
Journeys of Change is a DCMS/DCSF Strategic Commissioning project for supplementary schools to learn with museums. In 2007-2008 young people found out about how Caribbean people have been affected by conflict during the twentieth century and built a small website to show their work, www.iwm.org.uk/journeysofchange.

People of the Great War: Shaping the Modern World
This innovative and thought-provoking short film was created in 2008 to mark the passing of the First World War generation. Produced by the Imperial War Museum, in association with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and with support from the Minister for Veterans, People of the Great War is free to every school in the UK, for use in assemblies and in class, www.iwm.org.uk/peopleofthegreatwar.
