The Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve was established in 1903 and consisted of those who had civilian jobs but were part-time sailors in their spare time.
Records of Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve ratings in service during the First World War (up to 1919) are in record class ADM 337 at The National Archives.
