The Royal Naval Reserve consisted of officers and men of the Merchant Navy and time-expired servicemen still fulfilling their reserve liability.  You may also find it useful to look at the information about the Merchant Navy  you can find on this site.

Records of Royal Naval Reserve ratings in service during the period 1914-1958 (including the First and Second World Wars) are available at The National Archives in Board of Trade files BT 377.

The Fleet Air Arm Museum also have the original records of Royal Naval Reserve ratings from 1908-1955.

Information on ratings who saw service after 1958 is held by:

Records of Royal Naval Reserve officers in service up to 1920 can be found in record class ADM 240.  These records provide details of merchant as well as naval service and are arranged in order of rank and date of seniority.
