How to find your relative’s service record

Service records are held in different locations according to the date when he or she ceased service.  If a soldier left the Army and re-enlisted, the date of his discharge will be after his second period of service.  Similarly, if a soldier left the Army but later served with the Territorial Army, it is the date when he left the latter that will determine where his record will be held.

Pre 1914 records

First World War records – Officers
