Support the Collections

The Imperial War Museum is responsible for acquiring, preserving and storing our vast collection which covers all aspects of twentieth and twenty-first century conflicts involving Britain and the Commonwealth.

We are currently undertaking a major digitisation project to make our collections more widely accessible through our Collections Online website.

You can support the collections by making a donation online or donating objects to the Museum. By making a donation, you will help us to ensure our collections are digitised for future generations, along with supporting the work of our curators.

We continue to welcome offers of donation from the public.  The Guide to donating items to the Museum offers information about our acquisition policy and who to contact.

One of the most recent donations received by the Museum is the collection donated by Gianfranco Moscati, a survivor from the Nazi deportation.  Mr Moscati has donated his large collection of memorabilia documenting the Nazi persecution of Jews during the Second World War. His vast collection – which he began collecting in 1945, after escaping to Switzerland- numbers 1500 pieces and will be a vital resource for the replenishment of the Holocaust Exhibition’s showcases.
