Next morning when we had to get to work it was a struggle to get to work because the roads were blocked with debris and glass and things and there were buildings still on fire. There was one funny little incident… my father had got to his office and he had put me out there and I was trying to walk best way I could between all these… to my office which I suppose was about 10 minutes away, walking between two buildings and with the fire quite near I had a hat on with a big feather on it and I had been walking all of ten minutes when someone tapped me on the shoulder and said ‘excuse me I don’t know if you know but your feather is alight on fire’ and I was quite oblivious to the fact that I was going to go up in flames. |
