Description
A bronze figure of a First World War infantryman, with full 1907 equipment, marching with slung rifle, left foot forward. The figure is standing on ten-sided granite drum on circular base, raised on five granite steps. Bronze badges front and rear and bronze laurel wreath with Battalion numerals arranged around the face of the granite drum. Granite horseshoe shaped wall with WW2 honours inscribed. Front face: The Arms and Motto of Cornwall. Rear face: The badge of the DCLI. Eight Other faces: each contain a bronze wreath witht eh Battalion number of those Battalions which saw action overseas carved in granite in Roman numerals. Theatre of operation of each Battalion carved in Roman Type.
