Description
Pedimented wooden board with the names on 3 panels. LOCATION NOTE- the given current location is the last reported one in January 2007 (but this report was raised in April 2020). However the Church was sold in June 2014 and 2017, both times as a theatre. It seems likely that the memorial has been returned to it's spiritual home at Stockbridge Parish Church, 7b Saxe Coburg Street, EH3 5BN, NT 24743 74789. The history of Stockbridge Parish Church and Stockbridge UF Church is not that straightforward. This memorial was originally in a church that has now been demolished except for its tower and the land has been re-used as sheltered housing. It was known as Stockbridge United Free Church at the time this memorial was made and in 1929 it became Stockbridge Parish Church. However in 1975 the congregation elected to dissolve rather than merge and this memorial must have been passed to the then St Stephen's Church. At some point fairly recently St Stephen's Church and St Bernard's Stockbridge merged to form a new Stockbridge Parish Church. The main church is the old St Bernard's Church in Saxe Coburg Street and St Stephen's is now used as halls.
