  • A few lines beneath a picture in The Scotsman of 10th May 1948 tell of the unveiling of the Second World War panels on the memorial. The crowds were addressed by General Sir William Slim, and Lady Slim unveiled the new panels.
  • Another article in The Scotsman, a few weeks later on 28th October 1936 reports that in destructive strong winds the Corstorphine War Memorial had been blown over into the street and broken into three pieces.
  • From The Scotsman, Saturday 16th May 1936. CORSTORPHINE WAR MEMORIAL Negotiations have been proceding for some time between representatives of the Corstorphine War Memorial Committee, Corstorphine Ratepayers' Association, and the Corstorphine Branch of the British Legion regarding custody, re-erection, and maintenance of the war memorial. These negotiations, with the consent of the Corstorphine Ratepayers' Association, have resulted in the Corstorphine War Memorial Committee conveying custody of the memorial to the Corstorphine Branch of the British Legion, which branch, with agreement with the other two bodies, has carried on discussions with the Edinburgh Corporation regarding the removal. The result of the the discussions is that the removal of the war memorial to its more fitting an appropriate new site - exactly opposite the new library entrance - is to be commenced at an early date, and re-erection completed within two months. To meet the cost of removal, re-erection, and maintenance, an appeal to the Corstorphine residents for subscriptions is likely to be issued at an early date. Arrangements will also be proceede with for the holding of a re-dedication service.
  • From The Scotsman, Saturday 3rd October 1936. CORSTORPHINE WAR MEMORIAL It was intimated at a meeting of the Corstorphine Branch of the British Legion that the result of the appeal for funds towards the removal of the War Memorial from its old site at Station Road to the present site at Kirk Loan had been most satisfactory. The interest in the Memorial was reflected in the fact that donations had been received from interested parties well outside the boundaries of Corstorphine. The total sum received was £82 7s 10d, and the expenses of the removal amounted to £63 7s 6d, leaving a balance of £19 0s 4d for the future upkeep - maintenance and cleaning - of the Memorial.
