FOR KING AND COUNTRY / THE CROYDON ADVERTISER / ROLL OF HONOUR / THE NAMES THAT APPEAR ON THIS ROLL OF HONOUR WERE / MEMBERS OF THE ABOVE FIRM, WHO ANSWERED THE CALL [ON THE PLINTH ON WHICH AN ANGEL STANDS IS THE FOLLOWING POEM]: TO ARMS! TO ARMS! THE BUGLE SOUNDED / O'ER THE LAND, / OUR LADS THEN LEFT THEIR TRADES TO FIGHT A / FOREIGN BAND. / THEY BRAVELY FOUGHT AND BLED AMIDST THE / SHOT AND SHELL, / THOUGH YOUNG, THEIR PRECIOUS LIVES SO / SWEET, THEY NOBLY FELL / FIGHTING FOR THEIR COUNTRY.
