- Pink polished granite pillar with four rough-hewn bands surmounted by an orb, set on a square plinth and square base, the whole mounted on three rough-hewn steps, 6 steps up from road level. There are two villages called Symington, this one in South Ayrshire and another in South Lanarkshire (WMR #54287)

- The Scotsman, Tuesday 16th August 1921. -SYMINGTON - The unveiling ceremony and dedication service in connection with the monument erected to the memory of the eight men who fell in the war from Symington (Lanarkshire), took place at Symington on Sunday, in the presence of a large gathering. Mr W. K. Jackson, Convenor of the Memorial Committee, presided, and the unveiling ceremony was performed by Captain Walter E. Elliot, M.P.
