THE LOWER HALF OF THIS WINDOW IS DEDICATED IN THANKFUL-/ NESS TO GOD FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THIS COUNTRY AND ITS/ LIBERTIES IN THE WORLD WAR 1939-1945 AND COMMEMORATES THE/ SPIRIT IN WHICH THOUSANDS OF THE CITIZENS OF BRISTOL TRAINED/ AS MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES OF THE CROWN IN DEFENCE/ OF THIS COUNTRY AND ATTACK BY AIR/ THE UPPER HALF OF THIS WINDOW WAS GIVEN TO THE CATHEDRAL BY THE BRISTOL WVS SERVING DURING THE WAR 1939-1945
