Description
A sandstone monument comprising a wheel cross on a pedestal and two stepped base set on a concrete foundation within a tarmacadam area. The cross has recessed panels on the 6, 9 and 3 o'clock faces but further ornamentation is confined to the 6 o'clock face which bears a variety of designs in relief. At the centre is a laurel wreath and ribbon, on each side is a rosette in the style of a double daisy, at the head is an anchor and on the shaft is a garland with trailing tails. The pedestal has crossed swords in relief on the 6 o'clock face and garlands on the 9 and 3 o'clock faces. The 6 o'clock faces of the shaft, pedestal and upper step bear granite tablets with incised inscriptions in upright capital block lettering infilled in black.
