- Description
- Blue granite cross with square-sectioned plinth and base, which stands on a sunken area of paving. The head of the cross is carved with a Celtic design; the splayed base of its shaft has scrolls and swags of foliage. On the two-tiered plinth, the east face bears the WW1 inscription and names. On the west face, the dates 1939 and 1945 are inscribed vertically in recessed panels; the central recessed panel between them bears the WW2 names. The plinth stands on a three-stepped base of Portland stone (on which the name 'Tyas and Guest' is carved), which has remnants of four (now missing) corner posts. The memorial stands on a square of sunken paving; the surrounding kerb of which has a low post at each corner.
