Description
A double vehicle gate with adjacent single pedestrian gate. Two large oval plaques on the vehicle gates carry the main dedicatory inscription. A bronze plaque to the "THE MAN WHO NEVER WAS" was added to the pedestrian gate in November 1997. The names of the fallen appear on metal plaques affixed to the three stone gateposts. Each gatepost has a carved wreath at the top and supports a spherical light. The gates lead to a memorial garden.

History
The original memorial has been altered to incorporate the names of the men of the town who died during WW2. The two smaller name plaques have been placed above those of the Great War. The third smaller plaque (right-hand side post) indicates that the memorial was re-dedicated on the 10 November 1991. The brass plaque for "THE MAN WHO NEVER WAS" was added in November 1997.
