Description
A sandstone wheel cross on a pedestal and plinth. The cross has an inverted cross in relief on the 6 o'clock face and an inscription at the base of the shaft. The battered pedestal has a moulded top, a metal plaque recessed into the 6 o'clock face and an inscription on the 9 o'clock face. The battered plinth has rounded edges at the top, a metal plaque recessed into the 6 o'clock face and the maker's name incised in capital block lettering on the 9 o'clock face. The two metal plaques are trapezoidal in shape. All of the principal inscriptions are in gilded incised capital Roman lettering. The whole memorial surmounts a concrete base with battered precast concrete edging blocks.

c2007: The Afghanistan inscription was added. June 2001: The memorial was dismantled and relocated outside the new Methodist Church. A grant from the War Memorials Trust aided the provision of a new base. WMT reference WM502.
