Description
Stylised cenotaph set on a square stone block plinth. Sword passing through a wreath, in metal, is attached to each side of stone of remembrance. Inscription is around the base of the stone of remembrance, while names are listed on four sides of the plinth for WW1, and two sides for WW2. The whole is set on four steps with a pavement surround. Note that the WW1 dedication for WW1 originally read-TOWN OF AIRDRIE WHO GAVE UP. At some point the word UP was erased, probably after WW2, see attached image. Originally sited by the entrance gateway to Airdrie House.
