- The Scotsman - Friday 25 May 1923 www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0000540/19230525/219/0005 DORNOCH CATHEDRAL MEMORIAL. — Mr James Ballantine, 71 George Street, Edinburgh, has completed the war memorial stained glass window for Dornoch Cathedral, which is to be dedicated in the Cathedral next month. The design shows the figure of a mediaeval knight in armour, in an attitude expressive of rest and peace after victory, the texts, "They . . . rest from their labours" and "They loved not their lives unto the death" forming the theme of the window. The colour scheme is of deep tones relieved by well-designed shrine work of silvery white . Another window in the same studio, recently seen in London at the Ecclesiastical Art and Craft Exhibition and eventually to be placed in Kim Parish Church, is of superb colour, leaded and constructed in the manner of the early English craftsmen.
