- Description
- Vertical rectangular light coloured marble tablet with semi-circular protrusion at top. Decorative overhang across entire top with two small decorative protrusions above and badge of Royal Artillery with motto immediately beneath. Dedication below badge and single column of names beneath contained in central field sunk slightly below surrounding. Quotation at base of central field. Vertical scroll shaped decorative panel to each side and small shelf below central panel with two further horizontal scroll shaped decorative panels beneath shelf. All lettering in black. NB. details given on latest form: Lt and RT. hand sides and base decorated with scrolls and ? acanthus leaves: and top pediment two small protruding es. 2. centre top has decorated motif of leaves and an artilelry field gun with motto: ONO FAS ET GLORIA DUCUNT

- History
- Memorial sited in St Anne's Church, at unknown date church declared redundant but was struck off diocesan list in 1999. Church is listed building and was converted into apartments at unknown date after approval in 2004. Memorial remains within building but unconfirmed if in original site position. 11 Feb 2004 orders approved by the Privy Council held by the Queen t Buckingham Palace 'appropriating the redundant church of St. Anne. Hindsford and land annexed or belonging to it for residential use' Diocese of Manchester. Wigan Council Conservation Officer insisted that the two war memorials remain in situ and are now situated inside the main foyer of the aparments.
