Description
Vertical rectangular single sheet of water damaged parchment surrounded by light coloured card mount. Framed with dark wood and glazed. Name of club in blue lettering at top with Union and Royal Navy flags beneath. Below this is dedication in black lettering except for capital lettering in red. Names in two columns below separated by decorative central vertical line with names of two club employees at base of line. Symbol and symbol explanation at base of parchment in blue lettering with red capitalisation.

Circa 2000: Found in storage within club, parchment heavily water damaged from unknown source. Restored by unidentified club member and sited at unknown date. Original location within club is unknown, as is date placed in storage.

  • Wigan Observer, 05/04/1919: Report of AGM of the Club at which it was resolved to have a memorial to members lost in the war (list given), which would take the form of 'a suitable scroll and tablet... worthy of those who have fallen; also that a sum of £100 be invested to provide an annual prize at Wigan Technical College, the Hindley Hall Golf Club War Memorial Prize.
