- Description
- St Sebastian's Memorial Hall & Howard Palmer Room is a single storey building erected in 1920 by Mr and Mrs W Howard Palmer of Heathlands (a farm close by), used for a variety of small functions including a children's nursery. The entrance to the hall is gained through a small entrance lobby, both sides of which are glazed with stained glass windows on which are painted the dead of both World Wars. On the left is the window dedicated to the First World War and on the right that which commemorates the Second World War. Alongside each window is an explanatory description. There is also a heavy teak block bearing a dedication to Mr and Mrs W Howard Palmer, Heathlands. The Second World War commemorative window was installed by Wokingham Without Parish Council in 1996 in memory of those who suffered and died in the Second World War (1939-1945) and in thankfulness of 50 years of peace.
