- THIS TABLET IS ERECTED TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN/ PROUD RECOGNITION OF THE WORK DONE FOR JUSTICE,/ TRUTH AND FREEDOM IN THE GREAT WAR, 1914-1918, BY THE MEN/ OF THIS PARISH OF OWSTON FERRY, WHOSE NAMES ARE HERE INSCRIBED./ THE ROLL OF HONOUR CONSISTS OF THOSE WHO MADE THE SUPREME/ SACRIFICE IN DEFENCE OF THEIR COUNTRY. THEIR NAMES ARE SURMOUNTED/ BY THE CROSS, AND THEY WILL BE HELD IN IMPERISHABLE MEMORY BY THE PARISH./ THOSE WHO WERE WOUNDED OR WERE PRSIONERS OF WAR ARE DISTINGUISHED BY/ HAVING THEIR NAMES PLACED IN THE COLUME TO THE RIGHT OF THOSE/ WHO DIED ON ACTIVE SERVICE.
